A sign that winter is not over just yet.

Environment Canada says much of northwestern Ontario could be hit with a storm that is bringing rain, freezing rain, ice pellets and snow.

A Colorado low is moving toward the region and is expected to reach the area tonight, with up to 20 millimetres of rain possible in many areas.

It is expected to switch to snow on Saturday, with as much as 15 centimetres to fall by the time the system moves late in the day.

Environment Canada says some areas could see a mixture of snow and rain.

The storm is also packing strong winds that could result in blowing snow and reducing the visibility on area highways and roads.
