Six agencies in the Kenora District will share more than $1.15 million under the federal Reaching Home Program.

The Kenora District Services Board recently awarded the grants.

The largest share of the funding will go to Nahnahda-Wee-ee-Waywin, a supportive housing program in Sioux Lookout for $550,000.

Saakate House in Kenora, a women’s shelter, is getting the next biggest grant of $266,022.

Others getting funding are the New Starts for Women program in Red Lake ($145,144), the CMHA in Kenora ($75,000), the Food bank in Sioux Lookout ($49,200) and the Kenora Association for Community Living ($64,834)

Reaching Home provides things like tenant support services and rental supplements to allow people to remain in their homes.
