KDSB awards grants for Child Poverty Reduction Programs

The Kenora District Services Board is awarding 11 grants under it’s Child Poverty Reduction program.

A couple of groups in the Ignace area are getting funding.

The largest grant is going to the Northwestern Health Unit for it’s Nutrition on the Weekend program.

Its getting almost $50,000.

The Kenora Rotary Club is getting $10,000 for it’s own Nutrition on the Weekend initiative.

The Red Lake Indian Friendship Centre is getting $11,500 for it’s Food Security & Cultural Recreation initiative.

The Ignace Public School is getting $3,00 for it’s loonie lunch program, while the Ignace Youth Center will receive $5.000 for its recreation program.

The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has also been promised $4,000 for it’s youth nutrition program.

A couple other programs in the Kenora area are also getting funding.

That includes $15,000 for the Kenora Chiefs Advisory for it’s food security initiative and Triple Play will be getting $10,000 to improve recreational access for youth.

There are also two other grants with Ecole Immaculée-Conception receiving $3,00 for student nutrition and the Horseshoe Connection getting $8,795 for cultural recreation
