Wiigwas to build new LTC home in Kenora

The board of Wiigwas Senior and Elder Care says it will be building it’s new long term care facility in Kenora.

Initially, the 160 bed facility was going to be built on the Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation.

But, ultimately, the community pulled out of the process.

Shoal Lake #40 also expressed interest in building the long term care home.

But the board has decided to construct the new facility near the proposed All-Nations Hospital on the site of the former Kenora Forest Products Mill.

The board says over the next few months the team responsible for the new build will be working closely with the leadership, design team, Ministry, and all those involved in this project to see how the next steps will shape out.
