Ontario’s minimum wage is going up in October.

It will increase from the current rate of $16.55 to $17.20 an hour.

It is a 3.9% increase, based on the current inflation rate.

The increase brings Ontario’s minimum wage to the second highest in Canada.

British Columbia has the highest minimum wage, and it will increase to $17.40 an hour in June.

“We are providing businesses with certainty and predictability by announcing this annual wage increase six months in advance while also helping families offset the rising cost of living so that Ontario continues to be the best place to live, work and raise a family,” says David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
